English, German and Dutch

Welcome,

My name is Jack (he/him),
I’m a Postpartum Doula in Berlin –

I offer emotional and physical support to postpartum families in the first days and weeks, as you get to know your newborn and find your way into parenthood.

I walk alongside you as you bond with your baby, and hold space while you rest, heal and recover.

My work is rooted in emotional support, practical guidance, and hands-on care.

Together, we create a rhythm of care tailored to your needs that helps you feel seen, nourished and deeply cared for during this transitional journey into parenthood.

As a certified postpartum doula, with over ten years of experience as a full time care worker, I offer queer-sensitive, inclusive care for everyone.

I’m here to hold you, so you can hold your baby.

Postpartum care

The first days and weeks with a newborn can bring up a wide range of feelings and emotions. Whether it's your first baby or your fourth, whether you welcomed your baby through a home birth, hospital birth, or adoption, what they all have in common is that there is a beautiful new human in front of you who needs love, care and attention.

While you are listening to all the wonders your newborn has to tell you, I’ll be here to support you as you unfold this new chapter of parenthood.

I’ll help you practice newborn care, support you in reading and understanding the cues your baby uses to communicate their needs and feelings, look after your baby while you shower, rest, or simply want to have a moment to yourself. I support you with feeding positions, and close the curtains while you settle in for a contact nap.

I also hold space for the less visible parts of this transition — listening to your feelings and concerns, making room to process the journey of fertility, birth, and parenthood, and sit with you when things feel overwhelming. Practical support is part of this too: stocking your pantry, preparing nourishing meals, folding laundry, or accompanying you to appointments.

And upon request, I'll even gently remind your guests to wash their hands. ;)

Overnight support -
rest and recharge

Newborns have their own rhythm of waking and sleeping, and it takes them time to adjust to our concept of day and night. Interrupted sleep can be exhausting, especially when you have a healing body and are finding your way into life with your newborn.

Sometimes, the best support you can give your baby is to make sure you’re doing well – giving yourself a chance to rest, recharge and recover, so you’re fresh and present the following day. Knowing that your baby is lovingly cared for can give you the space to do just that.

I offer overnight support, a window of 10 hours of care between 21:00–07:00 tailored to you and your baby's needs. I’ll look after your baby throughout the night, while you catch up on your much-deserved uninterrupted sleep.

Baby massage

Baby massage is a great way to bond with your baby. It's how babies feel safe, soothed, and connected to the people who care for them. It offers a quiet, unhurried moment of connection, and a lovely way to get to know your baby's cues and build trust and self-assurance in your care routine – helping your baby settle and feel safe in your hands. It's also a wonderful way for the non-birthing parent to bond with their baby, building that same closeness and confidence.

Beyond that closeness, there are real physical benefits too: massage can support digestion, ease tension, and help your baby settle into calmer, deeper sleep. For babies going through a fussy or colicky stretch, it can offer real relief – for your baby, and for you.

Trained and certified by the International Association of Infant Massage / Deutsche Gesellschaft für Baby- und Kindermassage e.V., I offer Parent-Baby Massage courses, where I guide you through massage techniques for your baby.

The course consists of 5 sessions, held once a week, 60 minutes each.

What does home mean to you?

It’s the question that led me to postpartum care.

Fifteen years ago I moved from the Netherlands to Berlin while finishing my Bachelor's degree in Art Management. As a project manager for an Artists-in-Residence programme on the theme of the notion of home, I guided international artists through big questions. What does home mean to you? What would you like it to look like? What, or who, stands in the way? We explored domesticity, family, food, politics, rituals and desire, each from a different angle. Home meant something different to everyone, and yet a few things kept coming back: safety, belonging, memory.

Around the same time I started babysitting. I soon realised that these two seemingly different jobs had a lot in common: care at the heart of both, and the chance to be there for people during times of change. In 2013/14, I shifted my focus to full-time care work with families.

Many of the families I worked with found themselves expecting another baby, and to my great joy, a wider scope of care was needed and desired. This is how my path naturally led me to postpartum doula work—a space where I support and nourish families through one of life’s most tender and transformative moments. In more than a decade, I've witnessed the journeys of many different families, each with its own path of growth and change.

I have never experienced pregnancy firsthand, but what I do know, as a trans person, is how deeply big transitional moments in life can shape you. They require love, attention and lots of patience.

With this understanding, I bring gentle and steady care to your home, to help you feel seen, supported and held as you navigate the early weeks of parenthood.

FAQ

Which areas do you serve?

I'm based in 10969, Berlin Mitte / Kreuzberg and travel up to 30 minutes door-to-door, which is included in my rate. If you're a bit further out, no worries — when my schedule allows, I'm happy to support you too, with transportation time charged additionally.

Do I need to be queer to hire your service?

Not at all - I welcome everyone as they are, and love working with a wide variety of people and families. I do mention that I'm trans and offer queer-inclusive care for two reasons: so that queer people who want care have the option to work with a peer, without having to explain themselves from scratch - and so that anyone who might feel differently about my identity or lifestyle is informed beforehand and can choose a provider who's a better fit for them.

I'd like support in the first days at home, but I don't know exactly when I'll give birth — how do we schedule this?

No worries — I'm very aware that labour has its own rhythm. Just let me know your estimated due date, and I'll reserve space for you in my calendar. When possible, drop me a line as labour begins, and once your baby has arrived, we'll schedule sessions to make sure you're supported from the moment you're home.

My baby is already a few weeks old and I could really use some support — can I still reach out, even if I'm not “freshly” postpartum?

Yes, absolutely. Good on you for reaching out — you don't have to do this alone. I'm happy to support you from the very first days all the way until your baby turns one. Postpartum means something different for every family, and there's no expiry date on needing care.

Can you support us on weekends?

My main focus is Monday through Friday. For special occasions, I do offer weekend support — please get in touch to inquire about pricing.

How does overnight support look like when I body-feed?

When your baby is hungry, I'll bring them to you in your bedroom for the feeding, then help settle them back into their nighttime routine afterward — while you rest and recharge.

Can postpartum support be covered by health insurance?

Possibly, yes. Depending on your situation, costs may be covered under the category of Mütterpflege / Haushaltshilfe. Get in touch with your health insurance provider to check their coverage options. I'm happy to help explain the process and paperwork along the way. Please note that the final decision rests with the medical board of your health insurance provider.
